What happens to domain name and website when hosting company closes down?

Monday, September 28th, 2009

Need to know what to do about website. Hosting company has closed down with no warning. What happens now? Is the website and domain name lost?

Hello,

First check at http://www.whois.sc following:

1. Name of ICANN Registrar
2. Details in Admin Contact details

If admin contact details are yours, then approach Registrar directly and ask them to provide you control panel. They will help you for gain control on domain name.

If admin details are not yours, then it is bit difficult for you to prove that domain is owned by you.

Still contact registrar and ask if they can help you in this matter. They may ask you to provide few legal documentation and some other proof to give you the control of domain.

Regards,

Vinay

how to build an online store?

Monday, September 28th, 2009

Can anyone please help me out. I need to build an online store, but I’m not sure where to start. What do I need to get it done? any software recommended? anything? I have site, but need to set it up so that i can take credit card/debit card payments and all of that online. please, can anyone help?
And how do I set it up so that people can click on the item that they want and it takes them to paypal to pay for it?

It really depends on how many items you plan on selling. If you are going to sell a few items 1-10 I would recommend PayPal. I have added a link for them at the bottom.

If you have more than 10 items I would recommend your own eCommerce solution. What you would need in order to accomplish this is a shopping cart, a SSL and a virtual terminal. It sounds a little confusing but it is not. There are 1000′s of companies out there that offer all three in one simple package. Then you need a merchant account.

What you do is basically get the software and upload it to your website just like any other web page. Then from your existing web page you create a link to your shopping cart. Your shopping cart is basically the list of all the items you want to sell. Shopping carts are web based and they allow you to add products, pricing, pictures and descriptions. Just like you see on most sites. Once a customer clicks the item they want, it is transferred through the SSL (Secure Sockets Layer, which is needed in order to accept credit cards via the web) onto the virtual terminal(the place where they enter their credit card info). Then the customer enters in the credit card info and completes the sale. At this point the shopping cart software sends you an email letting you know what the customer order and where to ship it.

The way to make this the easiest for you is to look for a merchant services company. I am in the industry and setup up clients with your needs on a daily basis. It’s nothing special just need the right person. If you do a search on payment gateway’s you will find more than enough companies to work with. If you can’t find anyone you like email me through my profile and I would be happy to help. Hope this gave you the answer you were looking for.

Is it safe to buy wholesale products from China?

Monday, September 28th, 2009

I have found a few sites which sell wholesale products from China and was wondering if they are considered safe? Thank you

It is as safe as you allow it to be. If you interested in buying wholesale from China you really need to do you research. One thing I always do to minimise the risk is only deal with sources that offer Paypal, Escrow or Credit Card as payment options. At least with using one of these methods you have an avenue to go down in the event that you do get scammed! Western Union and TT payments are the risky options… steer clear if in doubt! A good website to try is www.hqwholesale.com for a huge range of suppliers and sources

Where do I start to look for wholesalers for maternity clothing in Australia?

Monday, September 28th, 2009

Im thinking of creating a small business in maternity clothing. Not sure if I should look for wholesalers here in Australia or overseas like bangkok or China. Please advise.

Bangkok is much cheaper than China if you decide to go that route, plus they arent on a mission to suppress democracy like China is. Do the right thing.

How does Build A Niche Store & eBay work together.?

Monday, September 28th, 2009

Maybe I am just dense but how do you make money on other peoples auctions? I have been looking for a way to start an online business and came across this http://buildanichestore.org.uk . They claim you can make money off promoting eBay’s auctions, is this a scam? Does eBay really need help in promoting auctions? Seems strange to me as everyone already knows about eBay. Thoughts please.

Hi Brianna,

I don’t really know about the program you have mentioned, but I do know you can earn some money by promoting products on ebay. Yes, ebay is well known, but a lot of times, people don’t think to look there for everyday items they need to purchase. I think that is why ebay is willing to pay you a bit of the fee they charge the ebay sellers for listing their product. I don’t know if you could earn a lot this way, unless you had a website that really generated huge amounts of traffic to ebay.

I have a website that is all about chocolate candy. It is http://www.chocolate-candy-mall.com If you take a look at my site, you will see that I have a section on chocolate auctions http://www.chocolate-candy-mall.com/chocolate-auctions.html

My site is rather new (about 6 months) and I am still in the process of growing my traffic, but if you see the way it is laid out with the different pages that refer to different chocolate items on ebay you will see the feeds from ebay right on my pages. If a visitor to my site clicks on one of those ads and goes to ebay, and then purchases something from ebay, I will get a small commission (varies depending on the fee ebay collects from the seller). You don’t actually get any of the sale price of the item. That, of course, goes to the seller.

Also, I believe if someone signs up as a member of ebay through my site, I will get a special additional commission from ebay (maybe $5, my memory is vague on that one).

Does that help? It is a bit hard to explain if you don’t have a website and get the gist of website building. Of course, ebay is just one of the ways my business earns money. I also get commissions from chocolate companies that I refer to as well as Google advertisements. It is a lot of fun (especially because I love chocolate!).

If you think you may want to start an online business, I recommend this free ebook that I read when I was first searching for a legitimate opportunity. You can download it here http://aff-masters.sitesell.com/Angie5.html
It is a lot of information to absorb, but it is worth the trouble of reading it, as I didn’t have the first idea how to get started. It led me to join the company that has tutored me through the whole process. I have no regrets.

I wish you online success. =)
