How do I build my own professional website?

I want to build a website on my own with out using a website builder like piczo, bluevoda, moonfruit, etc. Can somebody tell me how to create one by myself?

I strongly recommend Webstarts. There are many templates to choose from or start your site from scratch which is what it sounds like you want. I have been a web developer for many years and when I stumble across Webstarts there has been no turning back. It has everything you need to create a proffesional and powerful website. It has a true drag and drop feature to completely customize your website exactly how you want it and remarkably easy as well.

Learn HTML first so you know what you are doing. You could also get a wysiwyg editor like Dreamweaver or something similar to make life a bit easier – especially if you are not keen on coding. If you don’t have the money for expensive software try openwysiwyg from http://www.openwebware.com. Get yourself some image editing software like The Gimp (http://www.gimp.org) so you can create exiting graphics. Have a look around to see if you can get free hosting – sometimes your own ISP may provide this. If you prefer paid for web hosting there are lots of fairly cheap web hosting solutions out there.

Building a professional website (depends on how you define this) will require some investment on your part. Most professionals use Dreamweaver as their web design tool of choice. Once you have created one using it or some web design tool, you will need a host to put it on the internet. Suggest you use Microsoft Office Live Small Business – http://tinyurl.com/msolsb . It is a free service for creating and hosting your website. Right now, MS is offering a free domain name for the first year (e.g. yoursite.com). Since you created a website in dreamweaver, you can upload that to office live as well. You will need to activate its third-party designer tool option. Once activated, you will get a link to a webfolder. Just copy the files you created in Dreamweaver into it.

I would build a Blog and use that as your website. Blogs are relatively inexpensive and it will allow you the ability to make edits to your site without having to learn HTML. In the end, you are going to want a website that you can easily work with and that will give you the best opportunity to be ranked high on Google. I wouldn’t recommend BlogSpot or any free blog but buy a URL, get a cheap CPanel hosting account, and hire someone to set it up for you. Best of Luck!

A professional website can mean numbers of criteria. these includes matching of colours, Graphics and multimedia components.
Site-builders are easy to use and don’t require in depth understanding of programming.

There are numbers of scripts used by web developers to deliver quality and professional website for their clients.

You could start off by getting a web hosting account that support several scripts that includes; Content Management System, Blog Management System etc. depending on what you want, you could learn to use these scripts and apply them for your website.

If you need a recommendation, i would recommend the web hosting specialist, http://www.hostingspec.com .

They provide all the resources you need to master those scripts. they provide video tutorials as well. :D

I recommend Site Build It! (SBI!)

Not because it’s a great site building tool – it isn’t – but because SBI! shows you how to build a successful website; i.e. a website that you’ll enjoy working on, that visitors will enjoy visiting and learning from, and that search engines will rank well for chosen keywords.

It’s a little more involved than that, but following such a plan is much better than just building your site and finding that nobody visits it. This happens to most website built today.

    So, I recommend SBI! :-)
