What is the best way to learn how to build a website?

I want to learn how to build a website…completely from scratch. Is there an online course I can take or any courses at a community college or something? I don’t know anything about building websites at all so I would need it to teach me from the very basics.

If you want to learn the programming languages behind web pages:

Otherwise, I would recommend taking a course, or purchase a book.

I took an online course at vu.org, which is now ksurf.net. For 15 bucks you can learn the basics:

They used to have a setup where you could take 2 other classes – more bang for the buck but I don’t know if they still do or not.
