Were I in your shoes, I'd research the top 25-50 online shopping sites and borrow from their example(s). These are undoubtedly companies that have spent a good deal of money on research and design and know what works. In my humble opinion, less is more. You don't want colors or patterns to compete with your products or to slow down the downloading process. Again, check out the big online stores and see how they approach this issue.
