How do I build a dobsonian telescope?

I don’t really expect you people to give me step by step instructions, but a website that gives reliable information. I would prefer it if you have built one using instructions from this website, but I am not being too picky. Yeah, I need too do something fun this summer other than just slave over homework.
I have googled it, but I rather know someone who already built the telescope using this website so I am sure that it works. It would also be great if it the instructions call for cheaper materials, because I don’t want to mow my neighbors’ lawns for life.

The other thing is, how much of the scope do want to build yourself? Do you want to grind out your own mirror, or just the scope’s infrastructure? Grinding your own mirror might take the summer to do, but it does teach you a bunch about optics.

Another option is to find a used dob and rebuild it. Hunt down garage or estate sales and try find something that has a decent mirror (might need to be recoated), but is otherwise either worn out or otherwise unused. You still may need to build the scope up, but the key basic parts (the glass) is already made. If you come across an older scope with the name "Coulter" on it, it is worth getting, just for the glass alone. Coulter was one of the first commercial dobs on the market. Horrible design (took forever for the glass to cool off), some really good, well ground glass otherwise.

A hybrid approach might also be to buy a kit that you put together. Don’t know the lead times for orders, but this way, all the major wood cutting is done for you but you still need to build the critter.

im building a website for a friend who is a photographer. and i wan the sites users to be able to order prints of his photos. i can set up the web shop and all that but i cant find a printing service that will print then as they are orderd, auto matically. and ideas/suggestions?

I am trying to build a website for my arts company. I have had somebody do the design, and I need to build it using WordPress, which I have already installed in my web host. Should I use a customisable template? Is there a template that is truly customisable that you could recommend? I am not that familiar with HTML but I would be willing to learn… I just don’t know where to go from here.

I want to learn how to build websites so I can try to make a blog, or even make a site about my hobbies. My goal is to try and make money online. But before I get that far, I need to have a site for my ideas. What should I do first?

One of the best ways to learn website building is to launch a site and then go in and break it Seriously, it really works.

If you don’t want to go that route, the Head First series of books are very good. As someone else mentioned WC3 is very good. They have tons of tutorials on every program you could want to learn. What I like about them is that you can make a change and see how it affects the page in real time.

Tizag is also a good site. Their tutorials are very easy to read. I like them just as much as WC3.

Here’s a trick: look at their competitors’ websites. Scroll to the bottom and search the fine print for who designed the website. Then click on that name, and analyze their pricing schemes. This way you know *exactly* what is the going rate in your client’s industry. And when you quote your client, you can have that knowledge in your backpocket. "Well, did you know your competitor ABC company’s website cost around $2,000?"

i would also look at www.elance.com and www.guru.com to get an idea of what independent contractors charge for websites. After looking at it for a while, put yourself on it.
