How can I get a domain name for school website?

A new school, we just started our 5th year, we are looking for a site where we can purchase a domain name for cheap. Nothing too expensive, nothing to outrageous. What sites can we purchase a domain name from?

Please help.

You can get domain names (.com .net .org etc) starting at $10 or less at http://easydch.com

But if you do qualify for a .edu (Only U.S. postsecondary institutions that are institutionally accredited by an agency on the U.S. Department of Education’s list of Nationally Recognized Accrediting Agencies) the only place to get those is at http://net.educause.edu/edudomain/

There are over 100 domain registrars. The popular ones are advertised, but may not offer the best pricing. You are almost certain to NOT get a .edu domain through one of these, if that’s what you’re seeking. Only Educause assigns .edu domains.

The Internet Consortium for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN) lists all registrars here:

you can get around a high price using two techniques. First, change the TLD (extension) compare prices such as .ORG, .EDU , .US another way to make sure you pay bottom price is to HYPHENATE the domain, this will also rank well on engines.
