Is it possible to rank a forwarded domain name?

I have always built sites and with a little bit of work, had them rank pretty high in google search results.
I have never done it before, but I bought a domain name and forwarded it to an affiliate link. With a little bit of work is it possible to get ranked in google search results? Or is it seen as a forwarded domain name and overlooked?

If you want to rank an affiliate link, build a simple html page with content related to the terms for which you would like to rank and put the affiliate link on it all over the place. Linking out three times and on the image and in the right and left columns on a blog could be a simple cheap way to accomplish this. Google loves wordpress, so that’s an easy solution.

To answer your question, no your forwarded affiliate link will not rank for anything signifigant, and may hurt the rankings for the parent site, if it has any.
