http://www.steveweber.us/course/course-domains.htm How to Buy a Domain Name That is Profitable

Buying a domain name is easy. Buying a domain name that helps you make profits is hard, or it can be, if you aren’t well versed on the subject.

So how do you figure out how to buy a domain name, and separate out the unprofitable ones? Well the first step is to decide what content will be put on your website. If you are going to build a website about buying a domain name, then you want to get as close to that same keyword as possible in the domain name. The idea would be “buyingadomainname.com”. You can try to fancy it up, but unless you are going to spend a lot of time on the site and optimizing it for the search engines to pick up, you will fight an up hill battle getting your website to appear on the first page. Even if you buy traffic using Adwords or other pay per click engines, you stand to lose money or rank because your domain name isn’t specific enough. The best thing is to plug your keyword. Sometimes a keyword isn’t available, so you should just add an extra word at the beginning or end- preferably the end of it. For example, if “buyingadomainname.com” wasn’t available, go with “buyingadomainnamefast.com” or something.

Another key to buy a domain name is to use the right extension. If you want to really make a lasting impression and be memorable to visitors, it’s best to get a .com, .org, or .net. The best is obviously .com, but the other two extensions are also okay. Not many people will remember your .info domain, even though it’s cheaper to buy. The same goes for other extensions.

After you have decided on a domain name to buy, and made sure the .com is available, all you have to do is purchase your domain name. You may want to search for the best deals- registrars often run special deals. If you want hosting in addition to your domain name then you can usually get a package deal and get the domain name free for a year.

Now the big question is: why is buying a domain name like this so much more profitable than buying something else, like “fastdomains.com” or similar? Well, I alluded to this above, but one of the factors that determine your rank in search engines, or your quality score with Google Adwords, is the amount of relevancy of your site. And if your domain name matches the keywords like buying a domain name, for the above example, then you will get a higher relevancy rating and quality score (reducing your cost in Adwords) or increased rankings in organic (normal search) results. In addition, if you ever wanted to sell your site, your domain name being an exact keyword domain would increase its value.

I hope these tips on how to buy a domain name that is profitable helped you make a decision on what domain name you’re going to buy, and I hope it keeps it profitable.
