Wholesale products for baking and cooking?

anyone know where resturants buy their bulk products such as flour and sugar and eggs? Also, where do i go to get boxes and containers wholesale/ and i REALLY mean wholesale cheap prices? Thanks for all your help!

I just started ordering some items in bulk and found that bulkfoods.com has great prices. I just put in a price list request from an organic meat/egg place…not sure how "cheap" it will be but if it’s worth it I will let you know. As stated, I only just started doing this and I am also on the search for other sites…looking forward to see the answers you receive.

I’m guessing wholesale stores like costco would offer you a reasonable price in bulk.

i would call some resturants and diners and ask.

resturants get thier supplies from food distributors that deliver bulk pallets of food, perishable and non.

my fiance worked at one for a while.

i know a local diner here lets us buy things from them at cost when we need things to make things in bulk. but we are members of a local fire house so we get perks. they might not do it for everyone.

I am unsure where you are located but in California and the western states a lot of restaurants and caterers use Sysco – and they have the food supplies delivered regularly. Most industrial kitchens use Restaurant supply stores… Its the most economical way to get the foods they need in a timely manner.

man its sticky. theres distributors that work for the producers since they only deal with companies with product lines like kc masterpice, a1, ect. so, you have to contract through a distributor & the products they push & the territory they are contracted with (you dont get to choose who you work with). if youre small enough or an individual you could go to a small local producer or a wholesaler like sams or costco.

Costco or Smart & Final…at least on the West Coast & when buying quantities that one doesn’t qualify for the large delivery places.

Other than that, do a Yellow Pages search for Restaurant Supplies in your area. We have a few around here. Star in the Valley and then Surfas in Culver City. Both are wonderful places for specialty items as well as bulk items. And, you can’t beat the prices on the dinnerware! But, you mostly have to buy by the dozen. Works for me, since we break stuff a lot. :-(
